I am currently in the process of going through some medical tests for various government-related applications. So, earlier this week I received a tuberculosis test - they poke a hole in you, fill it with liquid and then wait a couple of days to see if it swells up. Well, it’s swelling which seems to indicate positive (not in a positive sort of way) test results. Otherwise, I show no symptoms. My hope is such is caused by the fact that I was actually immunized against Tuberculosis when I was a child in Germany. Mother?
Oh, don’t get too worried just yet. I had swelling and redness, but it went back down again and apparently I tested negative. (Of course, yours may turn out different…or, they may have lied to me. It wouldn’t be the first time medical personnel have done that. Just a little positive thought for you.)
Hope everything turns out ok.
As Heidi said, wait until a professional looks at it. It can swell and get red without being positive. The positive one I saw turned into an oozing boil the size of a quarter. And, if it is positive, you’ll have a chest xray. If the chest xray looks normal, you most likely won’t need treatment. If it looks suspicioius, then you’ll get treated… Tuberculosis is very treatable and rarely deadly in developed countries. However, you have to take the meds for several months and you can’t drink alcohol while on them. Good Luck
Turns out I was immunized against TB as a child in Germany, which technically makes me somewhat of a superhuman I guess. All is good.
