fast, slow, unconventional or the way it's supposed to be

My twenties went fast. Everything was fast. My career was fast. Days went fast. There was little time.

It was also exciting. I learned a ton.

But it was also stressful and unfulfilling as ultimately I felt that the majority of my time was spent chasing after either money or titles. That's not how I thought about it, yet that's what it came down to.

So now, at least for a little while, life is slower. A lot slower.

There is less money, less ego, walking rather than driving, three home cooked meals every day, more time with people important to me and work that I really care about. Projects that I want to be remembered by - legacy stuff.

If I compare my pace of life now to my pace of life last year, I ask myself whether or not I have lost my drive. It seems very unconventional.

But if I compare my pace of life to how things were 30 years ago, 50 years ago or even 100 years ago, it doesn't seem that unconventional.

Life just keeps getting faster and faster.

I ask myself how much faster can we go? How much faster can we eat? How much faster can we work? How much faster can we exercise?

Do we want to?

Day 23: 5000+ Some Words and an Unlikely Reunion at Casa Vega

I had a rather massive writing session on my plane ride to the US, mostly thanks to the German lady in the seat next to me who thought it was totally appropiate to not only sit with her pants open and unbuttoned but also chose to walk around the plane that way.

No sleep till America, literally.

Instead I wrote. And wrote. And closed my eyes every time I looked to my left. And now I am pretty much done with my first draft. I've written all the chapters that I wanted to write.

Hence, I probably won't continue my daily writing schedule this week but rather will do some select edits and additions. Then I am planning to completely wrap up the first draft on the flight back to Germany.

Turns out that Amanda decided to not run off with another man. Or if she did, she decided to come back. Either way, we celebrated at Casa Vega, because that's where you celebrate in the Valley.

Day 21 + Day 22 - 2205 Words And Rather Creepy Nightstand Assembly Instructions

I didn't write yesterday, because I was busy building two nightstands which had to be ready for Amanda's arrival. It was supposed to take an hour, and it took six. No big deal.

Fortunately I have been inspired enough to double my word count today to 2,205.

Then tomorrow I am flying back to the States for a week. Where I'll see Amanda.  And I am not sure why or how, but apparently the people who designed my nightstand assembly instructions knew that.
