malibu triathlon

As many of you know, I did my first triathlon last weekend – the Olympic distance event at the Nautica Malibu Triathlon. Things went a lot better than expected and I was able to complete the race in 2:46, which landed me somewhere in the top third. I couldn’t have done this without my awesome mum who came all the way from Germany to be there. In case you were there, she was the one loudly yelling instructions (in German of course) across the entire transition area so I wouldn’t forget to wear my helmet during the bike ride.

Here are some pictures. They are all in black and white. I look tougher that way. Plus, you can’t see that my wetsuit is actually pink.

That’s a solid time. Congrats! That’s a solid visor and fine German woman as well : ) Cheers!

Congrats Mario! Constantly in awe of your energy. On the complete flip-side, I’ll be competing in the European triathalon starting next week. It’s a 3 country event. London – drinking beer in pubs. Dublin – drinking beer in pubs. Munich – drinking beer at Oktoberfest. I plan to finish in the top third as well. :)

Patrick, I collect visors. Who doesn’t?

Adam, Nike really should sponsor my Ironman quest? Who do I talk to?

Jessica, it was a triathlon. If I could do a marathon in 2:46, I wouldn’t have to beg Adam for a sponsorship.

Adam, have you looked into that sponsorship yet?

my mistake!!! And yes, adam would definitely have to offer you a sponsorship if you completed a marathon in 2:46. Regardless, I commend you on doing the work to prepare for a triathlon and finishing with a great time!

Ben, I think Jen is working at the Octoberfest. You should try and meet up with her. She can cheer you on while you do your drinkathlon.
